I.  Donated blood for the first time! Haha, that bandage made me feel pretty badass. II.  My festive kitchen.  Bought both those cute pumpkins for a dollar each at Target.  III.  My essie nail polishes.  Probably only 1/3 of my nail polish #obsessed. IV.  Me & some of my favorite girlfriends. V. Homemade ravioli.  Yum!  Thank you to my Italian side!  VI. My BRAND NEW Macbook Pro!  Early Birthday present from my parents and brother.

Has it really been more than a month since I posted last?  I started a new job about 4 weeks ago, and time is just flying by.  I was so excited to take a marketing position at a great company.  I’m still getting settled in, and while I really love it–I’m totally wiped by the time I get home!  Seriously guys, I’m crashing out at like 10pm every night!

Hopefully my instagram snaps give you a little glimpse of the fun stuff I’ve been up to. (Well donating blood, not so much fun but it made me feel pretty good!)

Wow, its been a while! Know what I’ve been doing? DATING.  If you know me at all, you know that dating is not one of my favorite things to do.  While I love meeting new people and don’t have trouble finding things to talk about, I find that calling something a date brings on so much added pressure.  Pressure that is fabricated because I’m putting it on myself?  Perhaps.  So, I’m rattling off a couple of the thoughts I’ve had in these last few weeks.

    • When a guy is incredibly nice and sweet to you, but rude/borderline racist to the other people you interact with–drop him like its hot.  It doesn’t matter how attractive he was (VERY!) that kind of behavior is completely unnecessary.  I have no delusions that I would likely be a recipient of those moods in the future.
    • I absolutely love it when a man opens a car door for me.  Its the little things, really!
    • You should never tell a girl on your first date that you’ve recently had your sperm count checked to make sure you can still have kids. Oh yes, this happened to me. Hello, crazy overshare! I’m in my 20′s!  Not a concern of mine.
    • The anticipation of the will he/wont he at the end of the date is so exciting.
    • Don’t try and rush a relationship.  Things need to move at their own pace.  Also, please don’t be overly affectionate right up front.  When I start to feel like you’ve got a timeline, it starts to make me uncomfortable.
    • Sometimes agreeing to a same day date is a great way to take the pressure off.  It may just be me, but I tend to overanalyze and build things up in my mind (Hello nerves!)  Doing it same day gives me less time to stress about what I’m going to wear and how things are going to go.
    • When a guy likes you, he won’t play games.  I was driving home from a date last night when I got a text message telling me what a great time he had, and asking to take me out again on Friday.  The 3 day rule?  Absolute BS in my experience.

How about you guys? Any Bad/Good dating experiences recently?

1.  I did a phone interview yesterday while still in my pajamas.  It was 2pm in the afternoon!

2.  I started tanning again, even though I KNOW how awful it is for you.  I just can’t shake the notion that everyone looks healthy and beautiful with a tan!  Plus, if you can’t tone it, tan it!

3.  I’ve eaten fro-yo for breakfast two days in a row!

4.  I bought a new skirt, top and jacket today!  Yikes!  I’m supposed to be saving my money, but they’re for my northern california trip.  Still shouldn’t have spent the money, but the outfit is too cute!

5.  I can’t wait for Zumba tomorrow morning.  I’ve been doing it for almost two years, and I still think every class is So Much Fun!

So, these are my confessions.  What do you confess?

I thought it would be fun to do a post listing some of my daily beauty must haves!  I’ve got a train-case FULL of makeup, but these are the favorites that I keep reaching for again and again!

1.  Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara-  I’ve been using this brand for the past couple years!  It doesn’t clump and it’s usually around $5-$6 dollars at Target.  I’ve tried some of the more expensive brands, but this one works just as well at a fraction of the price.

2.  Urban Decay Naked Palette- I finally caved and bought this palette about a year ago.  I feel like everyone and their mother owns this palette, and with good reason- its AMAZING!

3.  Mac Blush in Fleur Power-  This bright pink color is the perfect pop of pink on your cheeks for summer!

4.  Makeup Forever HD Foundation-  This is by far the best foundation I’ve ever used.  So good in fact that I fork over the $40 or so dollars it costs without complaint.  It does an amazing job of evening out your complexion without looking like you’re wearing a ton of makeup.

5.  Mac Eyeshadow in Espresso-  I use this eyeshadow to fill in my brows.  Back in high school I made the mistake of plucking them crazy thin (what was I thinking?), but this shadow does the trick filling in any sparse areas.

6.  Benefit Bronzer in Hoola- I’m obsessed with this bronzer!  I use it on the areas the sun would naturally kiss, and also to contour my cheekbones.  It looks super natural and who doesn’t look better with a tan?

7.  Mac Brushes-  Now, my makeup wouldn’t go on nearly as well without these brushes from Mac.  I have some inexpensive brushes, but to be honest, they’re pretty rough on my skin.  I invested in these a couple years back, and they really make all the difference!

What are your must haves?  Any thing I just need to try?

1.  I did something totally crazy a couple weeks ago, and while I’m completely happy with my decision and have told all my friends, I just can’t bring myself to tell my parents.

2.  I’ve been shopping wayyy too much for a girl who needs to be on a strict budget.  Turns out, when I’m bored…I shop!

3.  I’m secretly SO excited about hosting a movie night for my friends this Saturday.  Most of them have never been to my place (because of the roommate), and I’m excited to cook and show off my apartment.

4.  I just agreed to let a man I hardly know to fly me up Northern California (home!) so he can take me out on a date.  Don’t worry, I’m taking every precaution imaginable to ensure my safety!

5.  I’m in love with my new hot pink shorts, but when I wore them to the grocery store a stranger commented on them and made me super self conscious!  What the heck dude?

6.  I kind of want to get my certification so I can teach Zumba.  I’m Zumba-ing 5 days a week currently, and I just can’t get enough.  I just have so much fun!

What do you confess?

“I think the reason why twentysomethings are so fixated on age is because we feel a pressure to be a certain way at 23, at 25, at 29. There are all of these invisible deadlines with our careers and with love and drinking and drugs. I can’t do coke at 25. I need to be in a LTR at 27. I can’t vomit from drinking at 26. I just can’t! We feel so much guilt for essentially acting our age and making mistakes. We’re obsessed with this idea of being domesticated and having our shit together. It’s kind of sad actually because I don’t think we ever fully get a chance to enjoy our youth. We’re so concerned about doing things “the right way” that we lose any sense of pleasure in doing things the wrong way. Youth may be truly wasted on the young.”

Saw this quote and couldn’t resist reposting.  I couldn’t agree more about the invisible deadlines that we inflict upon ourselves.  I know I’m completely guilty of this.  Its nice to have a reminder that other people feel this way also, and that “the right way” does not exist.  Make mistakes! Do some crazy shit you’ll regret!  Get dirty!  Enjoy this time in your life, because you will never get it back!
